CHEF DAVE! David Mahler Chef David Mahler, now Chef at the Creekside Grill in Silverton, has, after years of traveling and cooking, settled down in Scotts Mills, here in the Willamette Valley. Chef Dave was most recently in Costa Rica where he earned the title, Chef of the Jungle and wrote a cookbook, Cooking At La Cusinga, detailing his use of the wealth of amazing ingredients that the jungles of Costa Rica had to offer. Chef Dave is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, but his culinary travels have taken him to Maui, Cape Cod, the Napa Valley, Los Angeles, Austin, Lake Tahoe and more. In each of these places, he has tried to draw from the local ingredients and learn from local cooks and chefs. His cooking style, as it has developed, pays respect and homage to the farmer's labors and he believes that good local ingredients, paired with sound cooking techniques, can make the most satisfying and delicious food there is.
