Monster Dash upgrades race management
Friday (Oct. 19) is the deadline for discount online registration for Women Ending Hunger’s second annual Monster Dash, a costumed fun run/walk that takes place Saturday, Oct. 20, at Riverfront Park in Salem.
Eclectic Edge Racing, a professional race management company, will be handling the race including timing and recording (using bar codes on the pull tabs of racing bibs), instantaneous reporting, and an official awards ceremony. They also will announce each participant as they finish and will post all results online.
The 1k/5k fun run/walk is a benefit for Marion-Polk Food Share, the regional food bank that provides hunger relief to residents in Marion and Polk counties through a network of nearly 100 member charities. The event is sponsored by MaPs Credit Union, Oregon Employees Federal Credit Union and Gallagher Fitness Resources.
This fun, family friendly event, that last year drew about 200 participants, will begin with a 1k run/walk for kids 14 and under at 9 a.m., followed by a 5k run/walk through Riverfront and Wallace Marine parks for runners/walkers in seven age divisions. Participation ribbons and prize ribbons will be distributed. Special prizes for scariest, funniest, most original, best couple and best group costumes will be awarded.

Advance registration through Eclectic Edge Racing is $20 for the 5k run/walk and $10 for the 1k run/walk (for the first two children in a family; additional children $5 each). There will be day-of registration, however, the cost increases $5 per person (cash or check only).
