The largest one-day food drive of the year will take place Saturday, May 11. It’s the 21st annual National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive.
Marion and Polk county letter carriers will join their counterparts across the nation to become both mail deliverers and food collectors on this day. Last year, this drive brought in more than 105,000 pounds of food to the Marion-Polk Food Share hunger-relief network. The drive provides a terrific boost to the food supply in every community in our region as food stays in the community where it is collected.
Please help us get the word out about this drive. Feel free to use the attached images to enhance your stories and posts. If you would like to do a larger story about hunger in your community, please contact me so that I may facilitate the effort with stats, information and contacts.
Thank you for your consideration.
