Ironman Golf Fundraiser for Boys and Girls Club of Woodburn

WOODBURN IRONMAN SPEED GOLF
Monday, August 19, 2013

Welcome Ironman Golfer!

Why Are We Doing This?
Over 500 Woodburn-area youth benefit from our current after school program.  This could have disappeared in 2014 along with its current federal grant funding if the Woodburn School District and the City of Woodburn had not partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Salem, Marion and Polk Counties to bring their excellent program to our city.  We’ve been operating a Teen Center for two years, and have plans to expand this by helping the existing teen program in the Middle Schools. This takes support from local business people like you, so we’re fundraising in many areas including Ironman Golf.

What Are We Doing?
We’re playing 100 holes of golf in one day – doesn’t that sound like fun?  Our plan is to each start at a different hole, play five golf balls per hole, and after 20 holes we are ready for our celebratory lunch!

What Do I Need?
Just a set of golf clubs and the willingness to have fun for 100 holes to help area youth!  We’ll provide a light breakfast and complimentary lunch, as well as snacks and hydration throughout to keep you going.  Feel free to invite a guest to drive the cart for you and offer some encouragement.

What Are Our Goals?
We’re asking each golfer to raise $2,000 in pledges and donations. We hope you’ll make a personal donation of $100 to get started.  Does $2,000 sound daunting to you?  We understand that it may take a year or two to reach that point.  Don’t let that discourage you!  We’ve got some suggestions below that will make this easier than you think.

Where Do I Start?
First, start thinking about your family, friends, co-workers, and business associates that you’d feel comfortable approaching about donating to area youth.  Second, familiarize yourself with the Woodburn Boys & Girls Club current and expanding program. We’ve included a separate sheet with complete information about our program.

What Tools Will I Have?
You’ll have your own webpage on the website of the Boys & Girls Club of Salem, Marion, and Polk Counties.  You may customize this with your picture, and with any comments you’d like to include about why you are golfing for youth (we can help you with this).  When you contact potential contributors you may direct them to your specific page link, where they can record their donation, either per hole played or a specific amount.
