City of Woodburn Public Works Week Showcase 2013
Public Works Showcase set for May 18 at Woodburn Health
The Woodburn Public Works Showcase is the department's annual community event and the kick off for its nationally-recognized APWA Public Works Week, where the department displays all of its sections/division, administration, engineering, maintenance (grounds & facilities) and water resources (water, wastewater, surface collection, fleet and streets).
This year it will be held May 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Woodburn Health Center's parking lot. It also include other departments within the City, NORCOM, PGE, NW Natural, state and county agencies, LifeFlight, Woodburn Proud and other nonprofit organizations. In the past there have been up to 30 participating agencies/organizations in addition to the Public Works Department.
The event aims at providing the public with information about the services provided to the City, emergency response, current and ongoing City projects and careers. Most of the products are translated into Spanish and some into Russian. This is also a partnership with the Woodburn Fire District in that they host the Bicycle Rodeo Safety and Car Seat Safety Check, provided by Woodburn fire staff and the Woodburn Police Department.
