Bike for Bread Fundraiser by French Prairie Kiwanis

The French Prairie Kiwanis Club is sponsoring Bike for Bread, a fundraiser for AWARE Food Bank on Sept. 28.by: SUBMITTED - Mapping out a fundraiser: The 24-mile ride in the Bike for Bread fundraiser starts at Woodburn High School and, as pictured, runs up Front Street to Hubbard, turns left on J Street (which becomes Broadacres Road) and turns left again onto Arbor Grove Road Northeast, which crosses Highway 219 and curves into Deconinck Road Northwest and then Manning Road Northeast. The trail then goes left onto St. Louis Road, connecting to Butteville Road via Seventh Street in Gervais. Riders will turn right off of Butteville Road onto Crosby Road, which will lead them back to Front Street and the high school, the end of the ride.

The ride, which is held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., will start and end at the Woodburn High School and there are three different rides to choose from.

The kids’ distance ride will cover one mile all on and around the high school grounds. The cost is $6.

The five mile ride, which goes to Hubbard and back, costs $15.

The 24-mile ride, which will have one rest stop, costs $25.

Suggested items to bring include suitable clothing, a CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) approved helmet — this is required for all riders — water, snack, a spare tire, a tube, a pump and tools for bicycle repair.

Pre-registration, which is done by mail, is due Sept. 6. Day-of registration is open from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and costs $30.

Proceeds will all go to AWARE Food Bank in Woodburn.

Checks can be made payable to French Prairie Kiwanis and mailed to P.O. Box 374, Woodburn, OR 97071.
