DESCRIPTION:The City of Woodburn is bringing the Public Works Showcase back to the heart of the City! The City of Woodburn Public Works Week Showcase\, "Building for Today\, Planning for Tomorrow\," is returning to the Downtown Plaza\,at the corner of Garfield and Hayes streets for this year's celebration of the Public Works Department. The event is a tribute to those dedicated men and women who maintain the systems and services that are essential for the health and safety of the Woodburn community.\n\nThe Woodburn Public Works Department will be showcasing all its various sections to help the public get a better understanding of what goes on behind the scenes to keep the City running smoothly. Equipment displays\, demonstrations\, educational materials\, games and a FREE HOTDOG MEAL (courtesy of NW Natural Gas) will all be part of this annual event\, and we would like to invite the citizens of Woodburn to join us.\n\n \n\nThe public is invited to meet the people who maintain the streets\, deliver clean water to your homes and businesses (and take the dirty water away)\, design and implement improvements to the City infrastructure and keep city vehicles and equipment operating efficiently. Other vital city departments will also be on hand to share information about their programs and services.\n\n \n\nIt's a collaborative effort to share information with you\, Woodburn's citizens\, about what your municipal government does to make Woodburn a great place to live\, work and visit.\n\n \n\nPublic Works Week is a national event sponsored by the American Public Works Association (APWA) to highlight the important contributions made by those who maintain the city infrastructure. This year's national theme is "Building for Today\, Planning for Tomorrow." National Public Works Week is observed the third week of May.
